Overview
Students will write on the same state they wrote on for previous assignments. Remember, whichever state you picked is the one you will write on for the entire semester.
Assignment
From that state, students will provide the information outlined below related to that module’s topic. (For example, the first reform profile for module 5 dealt with voter registration.) The goal is to focus on state policy, examine how each jurisdiction administers the topic, and how it connects to state politics and rules. Each module contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the state and its ability to foster and support local capacity.
These profiles should be no more than one page each (not including citations). Profiles should be written using complete sentences with different ideas separated into different paragraph. They should also use single-spaced, 12-point, Times New Roman font with 1-inch margins all the way around. Profiles should be proofread and free of any spelling or grammatical errors.
- Describe how the policy is administered in your chosen state.
- What is the underlying source of authority? Who is responsible?
- How has this policy changed? What changes are being considered? How different would the change be? Would that change be positive or negative?
- Who is affected by this? In what way? (Think in terms of both positively and negatively.)
